This video is a long time coming.
Since the Mariners have hired Jerry Dipoto as their general manager towards the very end of the 2015 season, he has made 73 trades. That includes eight just this offseason, getting the ball rolling on a dramatic roster overhaul as the Mariners shift focus to contending early in the next decade, whether that’s in 2020 or 2021.

In the latest Mariners offseason video podcast, 710 ESPN Seattle insider Shannon Drayer and James “Boy Howdy” Osborn look at every single one of those 73 trades, giving them either a Good, Bad or Meh grade.
Before Shannon and Howdy get to that part of the video, however, there was another Mariners transaction that they needed to cover: the signing of 27-year-old Japanese left-hander Yusei Kikuchi.
The first 21 minutes of the video discuss Kikuchi’s signing, press conference and future, while the remaining 40-plus minutes feature Shannon and Howdy at the white board to make their Mariners trade grades.
We also have an audio-only version of the podcast you can listen to here. And for more Mariners talk, catch the Hot Stove Show from Tuesday night that included interviews with Mariners pitchers Marco Gonzales and Justus Sheffield, new Mariners hitting coach Tim Laker and Baseball America’s Bill Mitchell (Hour 1 here, Hour 2 here).
