WR Jaron Brown making the most of opportunities with Seahawks

Dec 20, 2018, 2:26 PM | Updated: 2:36 pm

Nearly half of Seahawks wide receiver Jaron Brown’s catches this year have been touchdowns.

Granted, it’s easy to look at that stat and point to Brown’s 17 targets in Seattle’s run-heavy offense. But the former Arizona Cardinal has a career-high five touchdowns and a 70 percent catch rate through 14 games, and has proven to be an efficient free-agent acquisition in his first year with Seattle.

He hasn’t had a ton of opportunities — but when he’s had them, he makes them count.

“That’s the thing with this offense, too,” Brown said. “Of course we’re trying to pound the ball, pound the ball. And when you do get an opportunity, you’re trying to catch the ball, you don’t want to let that opportunity slip. And I think we all do a pretty good job of trying to make the plays when they’re there for us. You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do for the team.”

Those five touchdowns have also led to one of the more entertaining outcomes of Seattle’s 2018 season: touchdown celebrations.

“It’s been fun,” Brown said of the celebrations. “It makes the game fun, of course, something to look forward to getting into that end zone. That something we like to do. We like to have fun and get wins while at it.”

Brown joined 710 ESPN Seattle’s Danny, Dave and Moore for Wednesday’s Player Spotlight to share his favorite touchdown celebrations this year, field questions about how players approach Pro Bowl voting, and talk about his background growing up in a military family.

Brown also talked about an issue he’s running into this Christmas.

“I’m finishing up my gifts, actually, I’m kind of finalizing everything,” Brown said. “It’s so hard for me because I’m trying to be secretive and trying to wrap it myself, but you can tell it’s my gift under the tree because my Christmas wrapping’s not all that good… I try to YouTube it.”
