Dave Wyman’s Football 101: CB Tre Flowers one of Seahawks’ surprises

Oct 3, 2018, 12:05 AM

The Seahawks saw something in Tre Flowers when he was at Oklahoma State. Just not at the position he was playing there.

Clayton’s Observations: Seahawks’ run game just keeps getting better

Taken in the fifth round of the NFL Draft in April, the Seahawks had interest in Flowers as a cornerback even though he was a safety during his entire four-year tenure with the Cowboys. Now we’re four weeks into his rookie season, and the 6-foot-3, 203-pound Flowers has solidified himself as one of Seattle’s starting cornerbacks.

It’s safe to say he’s been one of the more pleasant surprises of the Seahawks season thus far, which adds up considering you couldn’t really expect a rookie with no real experience at cornerback to make an impact this quick at the position.

In this week’s Football 101 video breakdown, Seahawks color commentator and former NFL linebacker Dave Wyman looks at one play in particular from last Sunday’s 20-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals that shows why Flowers has fit in so well so quickly on Seattle’s defense.
