Mariners activate James Paxton from DL, make 6 September call-ups

With MLB active rosters expanding to up to 40 players on Saturday, the Mariners added seven players, including No. 1 starter James Paxton back from the disabled list.

Here is the full list of Mariners’ additions:
• LHP James Paxton activated from disabled list for left forearm contusion
• RHP Chasen Bradford recalled from Triple-A Tacoma
• RHP Ryan Cook recalled from Triple-A Tacoma
• C David Freitas recalled from Triple-A Tacoma
• LHP James Pazos recalled from Triple-A Tacoma
• RHP Justin Grimm selected from Triple-A Tacoma
• INF/OF Kristopher Negrón selected from Triple-A Tacoma
The Mariners also made a pair of moves to make room for Grimm and Negrom on the 40-man roster:
• RHP Christian Bergman outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma
• RHP Rob Whalen designated for assignment
Paxton is scheduled to pitch for the Mariners in Saturday’s 6:05 p.m. game in Oakland against the A’s, which will air live on 710 ESPN Seattle.
