BOB, GROZ AND TOM

We can go ahead and appreciate what the first-place Mariners are doing

The Mariners arrived in Houston as the leaders of the American League West, needing just one win in their two-game set to ensure they’d leave Houston still in the driver’s seat.

Done and done.

Thanks to an offensive explosion in the first two innings against former AL Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel, there was never a doubt on Tuesday night that the Mariners were going to take care of that one win in the series opener. Add to the fact that James Paxton went 7 2/3 innings, holding the defending World Series champs to just one run in the process, and you’ve got plenty of reason to be satisfied with the way the 38-22 M’s have started off their road trip.

In the attached video, Bob Stelton of 710 ESPN Seattle’s Bob, Groz and Tom reacts to the huge win and explains why even though it’s only June and plenty can still happen to prevent the Mariners from ending their 17-year postseason drought this season, their current run of 14 wins over their last 17 games is worth taking a moment to appreciate and even celebrate.
