Mariners use 2nd-round MLB Draft pick on Louisville OF Josh Stowers

The Mariners have made Josh Stowers, a speedy outfielder from the University of Louisville with a knack for getting on-base, their second and final pick of the first day of the 2018 MLB Draft.

Stowers was selected 54 overall in the second round by Seattle.

The 6-foot, 205-pound fourth-year junior stole 36 bases in 62 games for the Cardinals in 2018, hitting .336 with nine home runs, 72 runs scored, 60 RBIs and a 1.036 OPS. He tied for third in stolen bases, fifth in runs scored and 13th in walks (52) in Division I.

An alum of Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, Stowers entered the year ranked 35th on Baseball America’s Top 50 Junior Prospects list. He was selected first-team All-ACC for his junior year.
