Sunday marked the last day of scrimmages for the Seattle Thunderbirds’ training camp as they prepare for their annual Blue-White game Monday night. Instead of icing three squads the club paired it down to just two for morning and evening sessions.

The morning session saw the White team upend the Blue 6-5 in a shoot out. Shea Theodore picked up the lone tally in the shoot out to secure the win for his White team. The evening saw the two squads play an entertaining back and forth game that saw the Blue pick up the victory 6-4.

Monday’s Blue-White game will be a regularly timed game with the full compliment of officials and the normal game worn uniforms. The game starts at 5:30 p.m. and is free to the public.

Here are some of the notable moments and players from Sunday’s action:

Lane Pederson at center: After playing on a wing the first three days Pederson moved to center on Sunday and looked pretty sharp. He centered a line with Alex Delnov and Connor Honey and they generated a ton of scoring chances and goals. That line went up against Mathew Barzal’s line most of the day and held their own.

Scott Eansor: The Colorado native had a strong outing in both scrimmages on Sunday. He is a good forechecker, plays with a great deal of energy and seemingly is always around the puck. Eansor could help the T-Birds solve one of their center positions this year. He may not be a big scorer but he looks like a possibility as a shut down center.

Amusing moment of the day: Early in the first game Connor Honey took an obvious slashing penalty as he took a good whack at one of the Blue team’s sticks. As he skated to the penalty box one of the players from the Blue bench yelled ‘You gotta learn the rules’. Sources indicate it may have been Justin Hickman.

Goalies: Devon Fordyce and Danny Mumaugh did not see any action on Sunday.Mumaugh is nursing an undisclosed injury after leaving Saturday’s scrimmage early. Justin Myles had another strong outing as did youngster Logan Flodell. The goalie competition is still way too early to call and most likely will be determined by performances in upcoming presason games.

Hit of the day: Luke Osterman, a native of Minnesota, had a big hit as he took Barzal hard into the side boards after Barzal had entered the blue line. Osterman had a strong camp, plays a physical game and even got in a scrap in the afternoon session.

Carter Folk: Folk continued to throw his body around on Sunday and again was an annoyance to the opponent. After one big hit Jesse Forsberg had enough as the two squared off in a big time tilt at center ice.

Save of the day: Logan Flodell came up with the save, or two, of the day. After making one point blank stop the puck rebounded to the dangerous stick of Mathew Barzal. Flodell scrambled to make another point blank save and stop the T-Birds young phenom.

Ethan Bear: Bear had another solid day. One of the most notable aspects of his game is the accuracy of his shot. It seems that every shot he took during the weekend was right on net.

Austin Douglas: The big defenseman had a strong outing on Sunday. He made sound passes, had a big crushing hit on Michael Holub and got off a couple of accurate shots.

Evan Wardley: Wardley looks to be in excellent shape heading into this season. He is moving well, making sound decisions and is showing some offensive acumen. He scored two goals on the afternoon – the second coming on a booming slap shot from the point.
