The Dee Gordon experiment in center field is offically on hiatus.

Gordon will start at second base for the first time as a member of the Mariners in Friday’s game against the Detroit Tigers at 7:10 p.m. on 710 ESPN Seattle.
A Gold Glove winner at second base, Gordon came to the Mariners over the offseason in a trade to play center field despite having never played the outfield as a professional. He now steps back into his natural position three days after Robinson Canó was suspended for 80 games.
Gordon will continue to be Seattle’s primary leadoff hitter.
Nelson Cruz is also back in the lineup after missing two games due to a foot contusion suffered when he was hit by a pitch Tuesday.
On the mound Friday, it will be a rematch of the second game of a doubleheader last Saturday between the Mariners’ Félix Hernández and Detroit’s Michael Fulmer.
Coverage begins on 710 ESPN Seattle with the pregame show on 6 p.m.
