Nick Franklin may be new to the Major Leagues, but the Mariners’ 22-year-old second baseman doesn’t feel out of place.

Franklin’s shown that with his performance on the field, namely a two-homer performance in Thursday’s win over San Diego, just his fourth game with the Mariners. But it goes deeper than that with Franklin, who explained that he’s comfortable playing baseball, no matter the level, in an interview on 710 ESPN Seattle’s “Bob and Groz.”

“I think just coming up for the first time, I don’t think that there should be (any pressure),” Franklin said. “I think it’s just more of getting my feet wet and getting used to the environment, which is starting to set in a little easier. I just keep on playing baseball the way I’ve been playing baseball all the way through the minor leagues. I don’t need to change anything, I don’t need to do anything more. I just gotta stick to my plan and my routine and just go with it.”

Bob Stelton and guest host Chris Egan of King 5 TV were impressed with the relaxed demeanor from “Nick the Stick” (the nickname “Bob and Groz” listeners bestowed upon Franklin), and in the video below they explain what kind of domino effect extended success from Franklin would have on the Mariners.
