After just one season with the Seahawks, the prevailing hope about quarterback Russell Wilson is that he will eventually join the list of the team’s all-time greats. So who better to dissect his game than a former QB already established as a franchise legend.

Dave Krieg, the Seahawks’ all-time leader in touchdown passes, joined “Bob and Groz” to talk about the second-year signal-caller, and it was evident from the start that the team’s quarterback of the 80s is quite enamored with the quarterback of now.
“Obviously (Wilson’s rookie season) was great,” Krieg said. “He exceeded everybody’s expectations (as a) third-round draft choice. He just did fantastic.”
Krieg said he was impressed with Wilson from the moment he met him after the Seahawks Week 1 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in 2012.
“I got to meet him after the first game against Arizona last year, and even though they lost, I was just impressed with his maturity, how he handles himself, his poise under pressure. It’s just amazing for a kid that young,” he said.
A lot is expected in 2013 from the Seahawks and Wilson, who finished out his college career in Krieg’s home state of Wisconsin, but Krieg believes he has a leg up because of his smarts.
“Russell had to prove himself last year, and now he’s got to prove himself more because of the expectations,” Krieg said. “He picked up the offense very well last year, and he’s gotta pick it up even more. The more they learn, they won’t have to hide him like they did the first eight games of the season last year. They were able to utilize his ability to get out of the pocket and run, they could see that he could throw from the pocket, and now he’s just gonna have to work on standing in the pocket. He knows the offense even better now, so his physical talents are just gonna blossom this year.”
