The Mariners will have an extra candidate to start a rally leading into the top of their order in the second game of their series in Texas.

Left fielder Ben Gamel, who spent some time hitting leadoff for Seattle last season, will hit ninth for the Mariners in Saturday’s 5:05 p.m. game on 710 ESPN Seattle.
The 25-year-old Gamel returned earlier in the week from an oblique strain that kept him out for most of spring and through the first 2 1/2 weeks of the regular season. He is 0 for 4 with a walk, stolen base and run scored through three games (two starts).
With Gamel hitting ninth, Dee Gordon in the leadoff spot and Jean Segura at No. 2, the Mariners lineup will have three hitters in a row who have led off for them since last year.
James Paxton (1-1, 4.57 ERA) will make his fifth start of the season for Seattle, while Texas will give the ball to 44-year-old Bartolo Colon, who is coming off a flirtation with a no-hitter in his last outing against Houston.
The Mariners can lock up a series win in the three-game set with a victory Saturday after beating Texas 9-2 on Friday night.
Coverage begins on 710 ESPN Seattle with the pregame show at 4 p.m.
