The 2018 NFL Draft is less than two weeks away, and it will be in “The House That Jerry Built” – AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Jerry, of course, is Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones, who is always looking to make a big move for his team.

Could a trade for Earl Thomas be his next?

“I’m not one of these people that thinks Jerry’s going to want to make a splash because the draft is here at AT&T Stadium, but I do think Jerry loves splashes with his roster,” ESPN.com Cowboys reporter Todd Archer said Monday to 710 ESPN Seattle’s John Clayton. “And if he can get a guy like Earl Thomas and work out a contract in such a manner to where the Cowboys can fit everything in, not only this year but going forward, it certainly makes a lot of sense.”

Thomas adds up as a trade target for Dallas. First of all, he told Cowboys coach Jason Garrett to “come get me” after a Seahawks-Cowboys game last season. Secondly, a trade became more likely last week when Dallas cut loose wide receiver Dez Bryant, creating the kind of salary cap space it would need to get Thomas on the roster and sign him to an extension. The Cowboys also have a need at safety, and a new member on their coaching staff might make Thomas more eager to come back to his home state: defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator Kris Richard, who was Seahawks defensive coordinator from 2015 through 2017.

“Hey, his old defensive coordinator is now running the back-end here,” Archer said.

Pulling off a trade with the Seahawks to get Thomas won’t be easy, though. Archer also discussed what the Cowboys might be willing to offer for Thomas to Seattle in his interview, which you can listen to in this podcast of Clayton’s show.
