The Mariners have placed first baseman Ryon Healy on the 10-day disabled list with a sprained right ankle and recalled right-handed pitcher Chasen Bradford to take his spot on the active roster.

Healy injured his ankle during a workout following the Mariners’ 11-4 win over the Twins on Saturday, a game in which he delivered a ringing three-run double into the gap at Target Field.

With Healy out of action, he becomes the fourth Mariners starting position player currently on the DL, joining designated hitter Nelson Cruz, catcher Mike Zunino and left fielder Ben Gamel.

Bradford, who the Mariners claimed this offseason from the Mets, made his MLB debut in 2017. He had a 3.74 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 28 relief appearances for New York last year. He will join Seattle’s bullpen for Monday’s series opener in Kansas City.

The 26-year-old Healy was another offseason acquisition for Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto, coming over from the Oakland Athletics in a trade. He is 2 for 22 is one run and four RBIs this season for Seattle. Last year he .271 with 25 home runs and 78 RBIs for Oakland, his first full season in the major leagues.

This is the second injury suffered by Healy in his short tenure thus far with Seattle. He underwent surgery to remove bone spurs in his hand at the beginning of spring training.

Daniel Vogelbach is expected to see the majority of playing time at first base in Healy’s absence, though Seattle could also use utility players Andrew Romine and Taylor Motter at the position.
