The Seahawks have agreed to terms with safety Bradley McDougald on a three-year, $13.95 million deal, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

McDougald announced that he was back with the organization via an Instagram post Monday.

The move allows Seattle to retain some depth in their secondary, following the loss of cornerback Richard Sherman and uncertain future of safety Kam Chancellor.

Clayton: With Sherman’s departure, yet another hole for Seahawks to fill

McDougald, 27, offers the Seahawks a versatile defensive back, and played well in relief of both starting safeties last season. He appeared in all 16 games, starting in the final six after Chancellor suffered a season-ending neck injury in Week 10. He also made two starts at free safety when Earl Thomas was sidelined by a hamstring injury. He finished the season with four passes defended and 45 tackles.

The Seahawks originally acquired McDougald in free agency in March 2017, when they signed him to a one-year, $2 million deal.

Seattle will have plenty of holes to fill on defense this offseason. Already the team released cornerbacks Richard Sherman and Jeremy Lane, and traded defensive end Michael Bennett to the Eagles. Defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson is set to become a free agent this Wednesday, and could command more than the Seahawks are willing to pay. Defensive end Cliff Avril has voiced his interest in continuing his football career, but like Chancellor, a neck injury has left his future up in the air.

Two other players to keep an eye on: Cornerbacks Byron Maxwell and DeShawn Shead. Both are unrestricted free agents who could also be signed to new deals.
