Rangers trade Russell Wilson to Yankees

Russell Wilson has been traded … to the Yankees.
The Texas Rangers – who acquired the Seahawks quarterback’s rights in the Rule 5 Draft in 2013 – announced Wednesday a trade of Wilson to the New York Yankees for future considerations.

Wilson has made clear his intention of putting his football career first, though he has maintained a love of baseball and made regular appearances at the Rangers’ spring training practices. He’s also credited his baseball background for some of his success with Seattle.
Wilson was a two-sport athlete while in college, playing with the North Carolina State baseball team from 2008-10. In 2010, he was drafted by the Colorado Rockies and played 32 games as a second basemen with one of their minor league affiliates, the Tri-City Dust Devils. The following year, he played 61 games with the Asheville Tourists, another Rockies farm team.
Wilson Tweeted his reaction not long after the trade was announced.
