We’re less than 24 hours removed from Super Bowl LII, and despite losing to the Eagles last night, the Patriots are the favorites to win it all this season.
Blue 42: What are the Seahawks odds for winning it all this year?
New England is currently sitting at 5/1 odds of winning Super Bowl LIII, according to Bovada. Vegas oddsmakers also like the Packers (9/1), Eagles (9/1), Vikings (12/1) and Steelers (12/1), who round out the top five.
The Seahawks are sitting at 28/1, tied with the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars. It puts them in the middle of the pack – projecting what would be an 8-win season – and marks their longest odds since 2012.
Those are worse odds than the defending NFC Champion Rams (18/1) and, interestingly, the 49ers (20/1). Undoubtedly, the latter’s odds are spurred by the impressive performance of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who took over for the final five games of the season and led the 49ers on a winning streak to finish 6-10.
A couple things factor into the Seahawks’ ranking: Seattle finished their 2017 season 9-7 and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2011, they could be without a couple veteran stars next year, and competition is stiff in the NFC, with especially strong seasons from the Rams, Vikings, Saints, and Eagles. Seattle also enters the 2018 season with new offensive and defensive coordinators.
Seahawks fans shouldn’t worry themselves too much, though; with 50-1 odds entering this past season, the Philadelphia Eagles eventually left Minneapolis hoisting the Lombardi trophy.
