ARLINGTON, Texas – There is a conversation to be had about Earl Thomas’ future in Seattle.
That conversation will have nothing to do with Thomas’ visit to the Cowboys locker room after Sunday’s game, an event that was undeniably strange – which means it was quintessentially Earl.

Thomas has never been the most straightforward member of the Seahawks team, and he was seen going to the Cowboys locker room to speak with Dez Bryant. Upon seeing coach Jason Garrett, Thomas said, “If y’all have the chance, come get me.”

How do you put that in perspective? Well, here’s Thomas trying to do that himself when asked whether he did in fact say that, and if he did, what it meant:
Thomas: Yeah. We had a great win. I thought we played lights out. Just emotional. I went to the locker room to talk with Dez, and I saw coach Garrett, and I’ve always been a Cowboys fan growing up. But the biggest thing when I say, ‘Come get me.’ I don’t literally mean, ‘Come get me now.’ I’m still in the prime of my career. I’m still going to be here. But when Seattle kicks me to the curb, ‘Please, the Cowboys come get me.’ That’s the only place I would rather be when they kick me to the curb. So that’s what I meant by it.
People take life too serious. That’s just who I am.
Q: Do you have growing indications that the Seahawks may not want you around much longer?
Thomas: I don’t know, but if they don’t, please come get me.
Q: Are you friends with Dez?
Thomas: Yeah, we spend a lot of time with each other. We’re sponsored by Team Jordan. We take trips together. Him and Dak. Dak Prescott.
Q: What did you want to say to Dez afterward?
Thomas: Just say good game. And that I love him.
Q: What was your conversation with coach Garrett?
Thomas: What you heard.
Q: What was his response?
Thomas: He just kind of put his head down. You know, they’re going through a loss. So everybody is in their own little zone.
Q: Are you happy here?
Thomas: Yes. I’m happy here. I love being here. This is where I started. I’ve built my résumé here. I’ve got Kam (Chancellor) and Sherm (Richard Sherman), coach (Kris) Richard. I don’t want to leave.
Q: Would you wish they would talk to you already about an extension? Is that some of the reason?
Thomas: Yeah. That would be a great Christmas present.
Q: Do you expect that to have already happened.
Thomas: I don’t know. I’m just going to keep balling, and hopefully they see the value.
Q: Earl, you said, ‘Kick you to the curb?’ Is the indication just because they haven’t talked extension yet, that’s why you think that’s going to happen?
Thomas: I don’t want to get too deep into it. But it’s a business, and we have great young guys coming in, and I just, you never know.
