Mather joined the Mariners in 1996 and was named President and Chief Operating Officer in 2014.
“During his 21 years with the Mariners, Kevin Mather has progressively and successfully taken on more responsibility and provided consistently positive and creative leadership to the organization,” Managing Partner and Chairman of the Board John Stanton said in a press release. “In addition, throughout his 28-year career in baseball, he has worked collaboratively within Major League Baseball on important financial and strategic issues. I look forward to working with Kevin as we pursue a Mariners World Series and provide great service to our fans.”
Mather will continue to report to Stanton, who was the Mariners’ previous CEO.
Gooby, Martinez, Traisman and Adamack all join a senior leadership team that includes Jerry Dipoto (Executive Vice President and General Manager of Baseball Operations), Tim Kornegay (Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer) and Fred Rivera (Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Legal and Governmental Affairs).
