The Seahawks’ big move at the NFL’s trade deadline is producing the exact kind of results they were looking for.

Seahawks K.J. Wright was right: Eagles ‘hadn’t faced anything like us’

In the five games since acquiring veteran left tackle Duane Brown from the Houston Texans, quarterback Russell Wilson has felt dramatically less pressure. According to Sam Monson of Pro Football Focus, the Seahawks’ pressure rate ranked 30th in the league before the Brown trade but ranks eighth in the games since.

Brown’s impact is not lost on Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, as he told Brock and Salk in his weekly interview on 710 ESPN Seattle Monday morning.

“There’s been some great linemen here in the past,” Carroll said. “We’ve (had) some guys that have done some great ball that brought other stuff – their presence and their toughness and their instincts and savvy and all that. He’s one of those guys. He’s the real deal, and we’re just lucky to have him on our team.”

Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Brown’s play is that he hasn’t really been healthy since midway through his second game with Seattle. He suffered an ankle injury that forced him out of much of the Seahawks’ Nov. 9 win at Arizona, and he has essentially been held out of Seattle’s practices since.

“He hasn’t had the chance to practice on a regular basis yet because of getting back from his ankle (injury),” Carroll said. “He feels the best he’s felt since he got here, since he sprained his ankle, and he’ll continue to get more work. It’s not that he needs the work as much as we need him on the field with our guys. We’ll just grow and he’ll have a bigger impact the more he’s around us.”
