Safety Kam Chancellor has again been ruled out by the Seahawks, this time for a Week 12 road trip against the San Francisco 49ers. While head coach Pete Carroll offered no new updates on the status of either Chancellor or defensive end Cliff Avril during his Friday press conference, he said additional news would be coming in the near future.

“There will be some clarity, yes,” Carroll said. “We’re just kind of respecting their process and what’s right for them, so we just continue to kind of report to you where they are right now and leave it at that. There will be some things happening before too long. I know that that’s not what you want to hear… but that’s just kind of the way we’re handling it to help them.”
Avril was added to the injured reserve list in October; no roster move has been made in response to Chancellor’s injury.
Also ruled out for Week 12 is right guard Oday Aboushi (shoulder) and cornerback Shaquill Griffin (concussion). Griffin wasn’t able to clear concussion protocol in time for Sunday’s matchup, but Carroll said he is “fine” now and is expected back next week.
More injury updates:
Linebacker Bobby Wagner (hamstring) and tight end Jimmy Graham (ankle) are among eight players listed as questionable for Sunday, though head coach Pete Carroll sounded optimistic about several of those starters.
“Jimmy did the work we needed to do today,” Carroll said. “Bobby didn’t get any work today, but his workouts that he’s done show that he has a great chance of playing.”

Running back Mike Davis (groin) is doubtful. Davis was promoted from the practice squad Nov. 14 and has 59 combined rushing-receiving yards in one appearance for Seattle. Carroll was hesitant to rule him out for Sunday, though; Davis got running in for the first time during Friday’s practice. Seattle still has Thomas Rawls, J.D. McKissic and Eddie Lacy available at tailback.
Guard Luke Joeckel is expected to make his first return since undergoing knee surgery during Seattle’s bye week.
“Luke made it through the week, he’s ready to go,” Carroll said. “I’m really excited about that, and for him, too. Seems like it’s been a long haul for him waiting to get back out, but he was able to take all of the work that he needed to do and (he) feels great. It’ll be the first chance to get him and Duane (Brown) playing side-by-side. Duane didn’t get to work much but he’ll play, and so I’m really excited to get those guys out there.”
Linebacker Michael Wilhoite (calf) and defensive tackle Jarran Reed (hamstring) will both return after missing last week’s contest.
Defensive end Dion Jordan was listed on this week’s practice report with a neck injury; Carroll clarified he had a stinger/shoulder issue coming out of the game. The coaching staff rested him Friday with the expectation that he will be able to play against the 49ers.
Carroll also had some of his best news yet for cornerback DeShawn Shead, who has been working to return from a knee injury since January.
“This next week coming up will be a change for him. I’m glad you brought it up because I’m excited for him. Doesn’t mean he jumps right back onto the field, but he takes a big step next week to get closer to doing that. He has a chance before the end of the season to get back.”
