There is still no update on the status of All-Pro safety Kam Chancellor, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told reporters Wednesday. However, the team did make a few roster changes ahead of their Week 12 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers — one of which involved releasing defensive end Dwight Freeney.

Chancellor was originally injured in the fourth quarter of Seattle’s Thursday Night win over the Cardinals in Week 10. He was declared out the following game with a stinger, which Carroll clarified is different than the neck injury suffered earlier this season by defensive end Cliff Avril (now on the injured reserve).

In roster news, Seattle promoted rookie wide receiver David Moore from the practice squad to its 53-man roster. The Seahawks drafted Moore in the seventh out of East Central University; he was originally signed to the practice squad Sept. 3. Here’s Danny O’Neil’s draft profile on Moore.

Seattle waived Freeney in a corresponding move. Carroll said that while the decision to release the widely-respected veteran was a difficult one, the team needed to account for injuries at other positions. The 37-year-old All-Pro first signed with Seattle Oct. 24 and recorded 3.0 sacks through four games.

Two former Seahawks, linebacker Kache Palacio and fullback Kyle Coleman, were re-signed to the practice squad to round out Wednesday’s roster moves.

Here are updates on the Seahawks’ other injuries:

DT Jarran Reed has missed Week 11 with a hamstring injury but was “really close” to being able to play. Carroll said there’s a “really good chance” he’ll return this week.

CB Shaquill Griffin suffered a concussion Monday night versus the Falcons. Carroll said the rookie corner is still in concussion protocol and it’s unlikely he’ll play Sunday.

RB Mike Davis is dealing with a strained groin and will be a game-time decision Sunday. Should he be unable to go, Thomas Rawls will likely take the bulk of snaps at running back.

G Luke Joeckel will return to practice for the first time since undergoing knee surgery and has a chance to play this week.

CB DeShawn Shead, who has been working to come back from a devastating knee injury since January, is “really close” to making a return.
