Duane Brown, Jarran Reed gametime decisions for Seahawks-Falcons

Two Seahawks will be gametime decisions for Seattle’s Monday night contest against the Falcons: left tackle Duane Brown (ankle) and defensive tackle Jarran Reed (hamstring). Carroll addressed the injuries to both players, and the rumors surrounding safety Kam Chancellor, Saturday afternoon.
Reed was able to get work in Saturday, but both he and Brown remain questionable. Both were injured in Seattle’s Week 10 win over the Cardinals (a costly game that also saw cornerback Richard Sherman end his season to a ruptured Achilles).
“Jarran got pretty good work today, a little bit more than Duane did at this time,” Carroll told reporters Saturday. “We’re just kind of waiting all the way through the entire expanse of this break here to see if we can max it for Duane.”
Running back Eddie Lacy (groin) practiced this week and is expected to play, while linebacker Michael Wilhoite (calf) and guard Luke Joeckel (knee) will be sidelined. Carroll said Joeckel is close to returning, but couldn’t quite make it back in time for Week 11.
“He’s working hard… but we want to make sure when he gets back, he stays back,” Carroll said.
Earlier Saturday morning, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that safety Kam Chancellor is likely headed to injured reserve after suffering a neck injury in Week 10. Carroll, though, said no final decision or roster move had been made yet.
“We’re still looking at what our options are and we’ll continue to do that and evaluate what’s going on. We’re working very closely with him on that.”
Carroll clarified that the stinger suffered by Chancellor is different than the stinger suffered by defensive end Cliff Avril in Week 4, but said both situations are in similar “wait-and-see” modes.
“We’re hanging together and just trying to talk our way through it, and not have to anything any faster than we have to.”
Bradley McDougald will likely fill in for Chancellor. He’s been the top backup behind both safeties, and played well in relief of Earl Thomas when Thomas missed two games to a hamstring injury. Carroll said the team is greatful to have the depth to help out when core members are unexpectedly sidelined.
“You can’t replace (Sherman or Chancellor) directly… yet we have guys that are coming in. Bradley McDougald is playing excellent football, he’s a first-flight starter in the NFL and so we’re lucky to have him jump in. Jeremy Lane was a starter for us this year, and Shaq (Griffin) has taken over as a starter on the right side… and then to be able to bring in (Byron Maxwell)… we just feel fortunate that we’ve been able to respond in this manner. A lot of teams aren’t able to do it like that. We’ll see how it goes, but (we) expect those guys to play really well…
These guys are fantastic football players and big time leaders on our team. They’re still here. They’re still working with us, they’re still in the locker rom and in the meeting room and all that because they care so much. And in that, you still feel their presence, which is important right now… we’re going to alright, we’ll be okay.”
