The Mariners have traded flame-throwing relief pitcher prospect Thyago Vieira to the Chicago White Sox for international slot money.
Vieira, 24, made his MLB debut last season, appearing in one game for the Mariners. He struck out one in a scoreless inning on Aug. 14 at Baltimore.

A native of Sao Paolo, Brazil, Vieira made 41 appearances between Double-A and Triple-A in 2017.
The international slot money gives the Mariners more to sign international free agents, which will no doubt help in their pursuit of slugging Japanese pitcher/outfielder Shohei Ohtani.
