Two beautiful days this weekend, the presence of a new superstar and general excitement for baseball helped draw record crowds to Safeco Field for the 16th annual FanFest.
The two day total of 21,019 shattered the previous record of 17,952 set last year. Fans who attended had numerous opportunities to meet players who did everything from participate in Dugout Dialogues to roaming the field and helping out in the bullpen or outfield with aspiring pitchers and hitters. Mariners also signed autographs at provided opportunities for pictures with fans at the Mariners Photozone presented by 710 ESPN Seattle.
It’s hard to imagine there is a similar event in baseball that provides more access to the players. It was great to see Robinson Cano embracing his new role as one of the faces of the Mariners and also players like Taijuan Walker, Brad Miller and Logan Morrison jumping in and having fun with the fans.
Thank you to those who stopped by to watch our special edition Hot Stove League Show Saturday.
