RENTON – Michael Bennett took a step forward on Tuesday, participating in the Seahawks’ walk-through exercise.
And while Bennett wasn’t expected to practice Tuesday afternoon because of a foot injury suffered in the Week 5 victory in Los Angeles, the Seahawks are hoping he’ll be back for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.
“He feels that he’s going to be able to play,” coach Pete Carroll said during his press conference on Wednesday. “But he’s going to need all these days to keep healing. Good signs today, though.”
Seahawks’ Luke Joeckel expected to miss 4-5 weeks
Bennett suffered the injury at the end of the first half of the Week 5 game in Los Angeles. He came back to finish the game in the second half, but was diagnosed with an injury to his plantar fascia.
The Seahawks are not required to release a practice report until Wednesday, and Bennett is expected to practice that day.
The status for defensive end Cliff Avril is less certain. He missed Seattle’s Week 5 game because of concerns over a spinal injury that was diagnosed after he wrenched his neck trying to make a tackle against the Colts in Week 4, and while Carroll said nothing has been decided, it seems that a resolution is getting closer.
“Maybe next couple days we’ll know more,” Carroll said. “He’s continuing to see specialists to make sure he knows what his situation is, and we’re encouraging all of that. We really don’t have an official update for you yet.”
