Lineups: James Paxton looks to end Mariners’ skid in finale vs Rangers

The Mariners will look to the Big Maple to keep them from losing their season-high sixth straight game.
James Paxton, who has been Seattle’s unquestioned ace when healthy, will take the mound for the second time since returning from the disabled list as the Mariners finish up a three-game series against the Rangers at 7:10 on 710 ESPN Seattle.

Paxton, who is 12-4 with a 2.98 ERA and 1.12 WHIP, gave up three runs on four hits in 1 1/3 innings in his return to action Sept. 15. He threw 50 pitches in that contest against the Astros, and will have a longer leash in Thursday’s game.
The Mariners enter the day still four games back in the wild card race with 10 games remaining.
