Danny Valencia will man first base and hit sixth for the Mariners in the first game of their final homestand of the 2017 regular season at 7:10 on 710 ESPN Seattle.

Valencia will be in action with the Texas Rangers starting left-hander Martin Perez, meaning Yonder Alonso will be available to come off the bench as a pinch hitter against a righty reliever.

Pitching for Seattle will be Mike Leake, who is 3-0 and has allowed just five earned runs since joining the Mariners last month.

Stecker: M’s have a real rotation again, but is it too late?

The Mariners entered the day four games back of Minnesota for the last wild card spot in the American League, while the Rangers are just half a game further back. Ahead of both Seattle and Texas is Anaheim, which is just 1 1/2 behind the Twins.
