Mariners call up 5 from minors for September, make DL swap
Jarrod Dyson is back from the disabled list, and five more players have joined him in the Mariners clubhouse with active rosters having expanded in MLB on Friday.
The Mariners will be without relief pitcher David Phelps for the second time since acquiring him in July, however, as he has hit the disabled list again for a right elbow posterior impingement.
Dyson, who was out with a right groin strain, is in the lineup playing center field and hitting ninth in Friday’s series opener against the Oakland A’s, set for 7:10 on 710 ESPN Seattle.
Joining the Mariners active roster are right-handed pitchers Dan Altavilla, Ryan Garton, Andrew Moore and Shae Simmons, and catcher Mike Marjama.
Seattle also announced that righty Christian Bergman has been outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma, fellow right-hander Sam Gavigio has been claimed off waivers by Kansas City, and recent acquisition Mike Leake has been added to the active roster ahead of team debut starting on the mound Friday.
Here is Friday’s lineup.
