It was a great sign when Tyler Lockett was activated in the first week of training camp and began practicing. After all, there was no guarantee he was going to be ready for the start of the season given the severity of the broken leg he suffered on his touchdown catch against the Cardinals last year on Dec. 24.

The fact that Lockett has yet to play in a preseason game has caused some questions, however, about whether he’ll be ready for the regular-season opener, especially now that he’ll miss this week to undergo Regenokine treatment on his leg.

O’Neil: What we’re still trying to figure out about Seahawks

Coach Pete Carroll said Lockett is right on schedule, though, with the only wrinkle being that Lockett would receive treatment this week instead of playing in the preseason finale.

“He practiced well last week and did a good job competing,” Carroll said. “We wanted to make sure and get him through. The idea was the best would be the last game of preseason. That’s what we thought. But after we saw him last week and then with a little bit of a new thought here, we want to go ahead and give him this treatment and see if we can take care of him and really make him strong so he can battle next week and play in the game.”

Lockett was on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list when training camp began, but was activated in the first week of training camp. Once Lockett was activated from the PUP list, it was clear that he would be on the Seahawks’ 53-man roster to begin the season barring a new injury.
