What a difference a year makes. Or in the case of Trevone Boykin, two years.
He is in his second season with the Seahawks. After completing 12 of 15 passes in Sunday’s preseason opener, he said the biggest difference wasn’t in the throws he made. He said it was in the decisions he made assessing the defense before the play started.
“Being Year 2, it’s more settled down,” Boykin said after the game. “Last year there were some things, concepts are the same coming out, we can throw the ball all over the field. But it’s those things that happen before the snap that’s a lot of stuff I have to work on.
“But I feel I made a huge leap, a big step, and just trying to get better every week and build on this one win.”
Boykin threw for 189 yards in the preseason opener at the Chargers, more than he had in any game last season. He also rushed for 31 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown run. The Seahawks finished with the second-most points in any preseason game in franchise history, and Boykin was Seattle’s quarterback for 31 of the 48 points Seattle scored.
