CHICAGO – The Mariners have named Nasusel Cabrera interim bullpen coach. He replaces Mike Hampton, whose resignation was announced by the team last Sunday.
Cabrera has spent the last two years as a batting practice pitcher with the Mariners and assisting with other duties.
Cabrera has been with the organization since 2007 as a pitching coach at various levels in the minors, coaching many young Mariners including current relievers Edwin Diaz and Emilio Pagan. He began his coaching career in the Athletics organization after pitching in the minors from 1986 to 1988. From 2010 to 2015 he served as the Mariners’ Latin American pitching coordinator.
In addition to his duties with the Mariners, Cabrera has served as a pitching coach in the Dominican Winter League.
