The Mariners on Friday recalled Emilio Pagan from Triple-A Tacoma and optioned Sam Gaviglio in a swap of right-handed pitchers.

Pagan, a 26-year-old rookie, is 0-1 with a 4.22 ERA, 11 strikeouts and two walks over three stints with the Mariners this season. One of his four appearances was his MLB debut on May 3. He didn’t allow an earned run over his last eight games with Tacoma, allowing three hits with nine strikeouts and one walk over 7 2/3 innings.

Pagan will be available for Friday night’s game against Oakland at Safeco Field, which starts at 7:10 on 710 ESPN Seattle.

Gaviglio, 27, is 3-4 with a 4.31 ERA in 11 games with the Mariners this season, which includes 10 starts.
