LISTEN: Was Jarrod Dyson's bunt to break up a perfect game against unwritten rules?

Jarrod Dyson was the Mariners’ hero in their 7-5 win over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night, but he also raised a few eyebrows in the process.

Detroit ace Justin Verlander had a perfect game going through 5 1/3 innings when Dyson came up and dragged a bunt towards first base, zooming his way on board for the Mariners’ initial hit in the contest. In many cases it’s considered underhanded for a team to break up an opposing pitcher’s no-hitter with a bunt, so the speedy Dyson put himself in the crosshairs with his infield single.

But did Dyson really break one of baseball’s unwritten rules? After all, Verlander was just barely past halfway to a perfect game at the time, and though the Mariners were down 4-0, they proved they weren’t out of the game when Dyson broke up the perfecto by going on to score seven runs over the next two innings.

Brock Huard and Mike Salk discussed that issue and much more about the streaking Mariners on “Brock and Salk” Thursday morning. You can hear the full conversation embedded above or at this link.
