Taylor Motter will step in at first base as Danny Valencia will get a day off due to a sore wrist in the third game of the Mariners’ series with the Chicago White Sox at 7:10 on 710 ESPN Seattle.
Motter has been playing second base on a regular basis with Robinson Cano on the disabled list, but with Motter at first fellow utility man Mike Freeman will take over the keystone.
Edwin Diaz makes big strides in 1st outing since losing closer role
Pitching for the Mariners will be right-hander Yovani Gallardo, the lone member of Seattle’s intended starting rotation out of spring training to not currently be on the DL. Gallardo has pitched six innings or more in five of his last six starts. The White Sox will counter with Mike Pelfrey on the mound.
Coverage begins on 710 ESPN Seattle at 6 with the pregame show.
