The Mariners will again be without Robinson Cano in their lineup as he continues to nurse a sore quadriceps, but Guillermo Heredia will be back in left field in Friday’s 4:07 game on 710 ESPN Seattle against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Cano was scratched from Thursday’s lineup with the quad issue, which first flared up on Tuesday, leading to him being pulled from a game in Philadelphia. He played Wednesday, though was noticeably moving more gingerly than normal even while going 4 for 5 with a home run at the plate.
Heredia didn’t play Thursday as he and fellow Cuban Ariel Miranda were held up trying to get over the border into Canada due to visa issues. The pair caught up with the team during the 7-2 loss.
On the mound for Seattle will be Christian Bergman making his first start of the season. A recent call-up from Triple-A, Bergman gave up a run in 3 2/3 innings of relief on May 7 in his only Mariners outing to date.
Coverage begins at 3 with the pregame show on 710 ESPN Seattle.
