Nelson Cruz is back in the lineup and Taylor Motter will finally get a day off when the Mariners take on the Indians in Cleveland for the second of a three-game series on 710 ESPN Seattle at 1:10 p.m. Saturday.
Cruz, the team leader in RBIs (19) and home runs (five, tied with Motter), will return to his usual spot hitting cleanup as the designated hitter. He was originally in Friday’s lineup but was scratched due to a stiff hamstring, prompting Seattle manager Scott Servais to put Motter, who was set to get his first day off in 18 games, at first base and move Daniel Vogelbach to DH.
Mariners open series with 3-1 win over Cleveland on Friday
On the mound for the M’s will be Yovani Gallardo, while the hard-throwing Danny Salazar will pitch for Cleveland.
Outfielder Boog Powell, who was promoted from Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday morning, will be on the Mariners’ bench in his first game up with the big club.
Coverage begins on 710 ESPN Seattle with the pregame show at noon.
