The Mariners had rookie Mitch Haniger to thank for Sunday’s come-from-behind win over the Rangers.
With the score tied in the eighth inning, the rookie right fielder stalked a deep fly ball in right-center field and made a clutch catch over the fence to rob Joey Gallo of a home run.

The game wouldn’t have been that close had Haniger not crushed a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning that cut the M’s deficit to 6-4. That extended his 10-game hit streak. The right-hander also stayed patient in the bottom of the ninth, drawing a bases-loaded walk to tie the game.
Haniger is making a strong opening case for Rookie of the Year honors in 2017. Through 12 games, he’s posted a .292/.393/.935 slash-line, with three home runs, 11 runs scored and seven RBI’s.
