Gee Scott: Trevone Boykin had no room for error with Seahawks

Mar 27, 2017, 12:29 PM

Trevone Boykin’s arrest early Monday put 710 ESPN Seattle’s Gee Scott in a bad mood.

Nine months after receiving probation for his role in a bar fight, Boykin, the Seahawks’ backup quarterback, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and possession of marijuana following a car crash in Dallas. Police said eight people were injured in the accident, including the bartender inside the club, Sidebar. The Seahawks released a statement that read: “We are aware of the situation involving Trevone Boykin. We are still gathering information and are disappointed.”

Although Boykin was not driving, Scott believes he had no room for error given his previous issue, and that this incident means Boykin will never be the face of an NFL franchise, let alone the Seahawks. Scott even thanked Russell Wilson for being “boring” but also “representing this franchise the way it’s supposed to happen.”

Further, Scott says the arrest should open the conversation in Seattle about free agents Colin Kaepernick and Robert Griffin III. Brock Huard weighed in on that angle of the story as well.
