The Mariners lost for just the second time in Cactus League play on Friday, falling 8-2 to AL West rival Texas, but they still had some highlights worth checking out both at the plate and in the field.
On the offensive side, Mitch Haniger flexed his muscles for the second time this spring, hammering a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to dead center. The front-runner to be Seattle’s starting right fielder, Haniger is hitting .429 (6 for 13) in Cactus League action.

On defense, it was the ever-cool Robinson Cano who wowed the crowd, taking a relay throw from center fielder Jarrod Dyson and then pegging out Ryan Rua at third base, who was trying to stretch a sure double into a triple. As smooth as that looked, Cano looked even smoother after the play, getting the ball back from third baseman Kyle Seager and whipping the ball behind his back to shortstop Jean Segura.
Stretching that double into a triple? Not on @RobinsonCano's watch. #MarinersST pic.twitter.com/c5b1pf8hDj
