The Seahawks will sign cornerback Perrish Cox to a contract for next season, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.

Cox, a six-year NFL veteran who had a short stint with Seattle in 2013, appeared in 11 games for the Tennessee Titans in 2016 before being released on Nov. 28. He started nine games and had a team-high three interceptions at the time of his release, but he had issues in pass coverage that led to Tennessee cutting ties with him.

Adding the 30-year-old Cox would give the Seahawks’ secondary some depth especially considering how long DeShawn Shead is expected to be out with a knee injury he suffered in last Sunday’s season-ending playoff loss to Atlanta. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll described Shead’s injury as significant on Monday. Shead is set to be a restricted free agent this offseason.

Cox has spent time with Denver and San Francisco in his career in addition to Seattle and Tennessee. He also has experience as a punt and kick returner, though he last fielded a return in 2015.
