Washington State quarterback Luke Falk announced Wednesday that he is returning for his redshirt senior season.
A tweet from the Cougars football account included this statement from Falk:
“After much consideration I wanted to let Cougar football fans know that I will be returning my senior season in 2017. The chance to play one final season with my teammates and friends, continue our development under a great coaching staff, and the opportunity to achieve more for Washington State football all went into my decision. We have much more to accomplish and I am excited to spend another season in Pullman. Thanks for all your support. Go Cougs!”
Huard: Unfinished business for Luke Falk should bring him back next season
In the past two seasons, Falk has passed for 8,770 yards and 75 touchdowns with 18 interceptions. He finished the 2016 regular season third in the NCAA in completion percentage (71.0), passing (350.3), passing yards (4,204), and tied for fourth passing touchdowns (37). He was named a finalist for multiple end-of-the-year honors, including the Manning and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm awards.
Falk’s last two games this season did not reach his usual standards; he threw a combined four interceptions during losses in the Apple Cup and in the Holiday Bowl against Minnesota.
ESPN NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. had Falk listed as the No.4-ranked draft-eligible quarterback.
