It turns out that Tom Cable isn’t the only Seahawks assistant coach getting attention for open head coach positions in the NFL.
Seattle defensive coordinator Kris Richard will interview for the Buffalo Bills’ head coach vacancy after the Seahawks’ playoff game Saturday against the Detriot Lions, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.
Richard has been the Seahawks defensive coordinator for two seasons, taking over after Dan Quinn became the Atlanta Falcons head coach.
The 39-year-old Richard was Seattle’s defensive backs coach from 2012 to 2014, cornerbacks coach in 2011, and assistant defensive backs coach in 2010. A cornerback in his playing days, Richard played for current Seahawks coach Pete Carroll in college at USC, then spent five seasons in the NFL with Seattle, Miami and San Francisco. He started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at USC from 2008 to 2009.
Offensive-line coach Cable is reportedly set to interview to be the San Francisco 49ers’ head coach next week.
