Wyman: How Wagner, Seahawks stuffed Rams on fourth down

Dec 17, 2016, 1:00 PM

The Seahawks bounced back Thursday night from their worst defensive performance of the year, holding Los Angeles to only 183 yards of offense and a field goal in their 24-3 win. Maybe the biggest play of all came late in the first quarter, when Seattle thwarted one of the Rams’ better scoring opportunities with a stop on fourth-and-1 from the Seahawks’ 7-yard line.

Linebacker Bobby Wagner got there first, several teammates followed and the Seahawks ultimately ended up with a turnover on downs when officials reviewed the play and determined that running back Todd Gurley was stopped short. You can watch again it here.

“I thought it was a great play,” coach Pete Carroll told “Brock and Salk” when asked about Wagner’s stop. “The thing I like about it is, on film, seeing the rest of the guys support the hit. It was a great stop, just a great stop and it was legit.”

In the video above, Dave Wyman explains what Wagner and two other Seahawks defenders did to stop Gurley short.
