The No. 4 Washington Huskies are getting accolades for their 31-24 win over then-No. 17 Utah on Saturday in front of a national audience.
Two UW players earned Pac-12 player of the week honors, with linebacker Azeem Victor getting the defensive award and wide receiver/punt returner Dante Pettis taking the special teams award.
Victor made with 16 total tackles – 10 solo, six assists – on Saturday, including a tackle for loss. The 16 tackles were the most by a Washington player since the 2013 Fight Hunger Bowl, when John Timu made 14 in a UW win over BYU.
Against Utah, Pettis had the play of the game for Washington, breaking two tackles – including one right when he caught the ball – to returning a punt 58 yards for the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The Pac-12 offensive player of the week was Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert, who had 489 passing yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in a Ducks win over Arizona State. WSU QB Luke Falk, who threw for 415 yards and five touchdowns in the Cougars’ 35-31 win over Oregon State, was one of six other Pac-12 players nominated for the offensive award.
