The Seahawks waived oft-injured defensive tackle Jordan Hill on Saturday from Injured Reserve, making him available to be claimed by the other 31 NFL teams.
A once promising member of Seattle’s defensive line, the story of Hill’s career has been the multiple injuries he’s suffered since being drafted by the team in 2013. The latest was a hamstring issue in the final preseason game against Oakland that resulted in him being left off the Seahawks’ 53-man roster and instead being placed on IR.
Hill, who was a third-round draft pick out of Penn State, had provided the Seahawks with an inside pass rush presence when healthy, especially during the second half of the 2014 season when he made 5.5 sacks, 15 tackles and one crucial interception over the final eight games. He went down with a calf injury, though, that prevented him from appearing in any postseason games as Seattle advanced to its second straight Super Bowl.
In 2015, he saw action in just 10 games due to a pair of injuries and didn’t record a sack. Prior to his strong stretch in 2014, he had missed seven games due to injury over his rookie and sophomore seasons.
