On top of discussion about the national anthem protests, players on the 49ers spoke about Sunday’s 37-18 loss to the Seahawks. Here’s some of what the San Francisco players said to the media:
QB Blaine Gabbert: “They’re a good defense, and they mix the coverage. They were playing some zone, playing some man. What they do best is they make you take what they give you and they rally to the football. We’re going to watch the film and see where we could have taken some shots, see where we could have executed better, and we’ve just got to learn from it.”
LB Eli Harold on the horse-collar tackle that ultimately forced Russell Wilson from the game: “I tackled him and it was done. That’s all that needs to be said. This is a league where they protect the quarterbacks at all costs, and I think that’s why they threw the flag. It’s unfortunate. But it happens. ”
Safety Eric Reid: “It is a divisional game, so it definitely hurts. We want to win these games but we are 1-1 in the division and we have plenty of football left to play so we aren’t going to dwell on this. We will watch film and move forward.”
Running back Carlos Hyde: “We had some success in the run game. Two yards here, three yards there, but Seattle has a really good defense, so you have to take what you get and just capitalize off of that.”
