University of Washington tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of DUI.

According to Seattle Times police sources, 20-year-old Seferian-Jenkins was pulled over around 11:30 p.m. in the Ravenna neighborhood. Seattle Police Detective Mark Jamieson says he was cited for drunk driving and released, but would not confirm that Seferian-Jenkins was the driver — only that he was among several people in the vehicle whose names were run by officers.

Washington coach Steve Sarkisian released a statement saying the school is aware of the incident and that it is “taking the matter very seriously.”

“Austin made decisions that fall short of our expectations for student-athletes who represent the University of Washington,” the statement read. “He will be disciplined internally in accordance with team and departmental policies. We will continue to support Austin throughout this process, while also holding him accountable and responsible for his actions.”

Seferian-Jenkins has needed just two seasons to become one of the most prolific tight end in Washington history. He holds school records for career receptions, receiving yards, touchdown receptions for the position.

Seferian-Jenkins set single-season school records in 2012 with 69 catches for 850 yards. He was one of three finalists for the John Mackey Award, given annually to the nation’s best tight end.
