Former University of Washington head football coach Don James is resting at a local hospital after undergoing surgery for gastro-intestinal issues, the school said Thursday.
James, 80, was admitted to Virginia Mason Medical Center on Monday and has since undergone two surgeries, which doctors believe were successful.
James coached Washington from 1975-1992, winning four Rose Bowls and a share of the 1991 national championship during that span.
