Lineups: Mariners’ Nelson Cruz out again for finale vs Rangers
Aug 31, 2016, 9:03 AM | Updated: 9:16 am
An injury to Nelson Cruz’s hand will keep the slugger out of the lineup for the second straight game as the Mariners try to avoid being swept by the division-leading Rangers.
Franklin Gutierrez will be the designated hitter and will again take Cruz’s spot at cleanup. Shawn O’Malley will play right field and lead off, where he went 1 for 5 in Tuesday’s dramatic 8-7 loss to Texas.
Felix Hernandez will attempt to stop the Mariners’ four-game losing streak and keep them in the wild-card hunt. Seattle enters the day four games behind Baltimore for the second wild-card spot.
The game will air live at 11:05 a.m. on 710 ESPN Seattle. The pregame show starts at 10.
