Kyle Seager is out for the second straight game due to a bruised foot while Nelson Cruz is in the Mariners’ lineup for their series opener with the White Sox in Chicago after leaving Wednesday’s game with back spasms.
Shawn O’Malley will again start for Seager at third base. He’s hitting eighth while Cruz is in his usual cleanup spot as the designated hitter.
Left fielder Norichika Aoki will lead off for the Mariners against White Sox right-hander Anthony Ranaudo, who will be opposed by lefty James Paxton as he returns from a stint on the disabled list.
The game can be heard on AM 770 KTTH, with first pitch at 5:10 and pregame coverage beginning at 4.
